We are in uncharted territory during this challenging time with increased uncertainty, stress and fear. Normal routines are upended which causes even more stress. Stress decreases your immunity so it is very important to eat healthy – fruit, veggies, and lean protein and keep moving with exercise to better your mood.
Now more than ever it is important to make healthy choices to boost your immune system and stay healthy to fight COVID-19.
By making healthy choices we set ourselves up for success.
Here are 5 tips to staying mentally and physically healthy:
1-Practice Gratitude. “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” John F. Kennedy. Gratitude is medicine. It relieves stress and gives your immune system a boost. Find 3 or more things in your life to be grateful for each day.
2- Get Moving– Spring is here so take your routine outside with full body weighted exercises! It improves your mood and challenges your muscles with inclines, declines and obstacles. Hike, bike, run or walk. Incorporate push-ups, pull-ups and tri-cep dips. Whatever it is just do it! For 25 to 30 minutes per day.
3- Drink enough water– Staying hydrated is important to maintaining a healthy weight. It keeps your organs functioning properly and aids in digestion. On average drink between 8-10 glasses per day.
4-Establish a Sleep Schedule- Sleep plays a crucial role in your health, with your energy levels and everyday functioning. Make sure to 6-8 hours of sleep each night.
5- Set Goals– Be clear on what you want to achieve in life and break it down into goals that will help you get there. Envision yourself 6 months in the future, 1 year, 5 years in the future. You, we will get there. I promise. What does your future look like? How will you get there?
Yours in Health
